Compliance Profits and Legal Hurdles: An Essential Roadmap for MSPs
Security and privacy regulations are tightening, and small businesses need help from MSPs to stay compliant. That’s a real revenue opportunity. In this session, legal expert Blair Dawson of McDonald Hopkins will dig into the real financial stakes of security compliance for service providers. She'll also walk through real legal cases and examples from the field, demonstrating both the risk and opportunity for MSPs. We’ll cover: • The most common (and costly) compliance pitfalls MSPs face in regulated industries like healthcare, finance, and defense • The top compliance frameworks driving client demand (like CMMC, HIPAA, and FTC Safeguards) • Where MSPs can legally and profitably step in with advisory, reporting, documentation, and virtual CISO services

The $925,000 MSP Mistake – And Why You’re Probably Making It Right Now [Presented by Galactic Advisors]
Sponsored by Galactic Advisors
MSPs are getting sued. A lot. Data breach lawsuits have doubled in the last 90 days. Clients aren’t just blaming hackers anymore—they’re blaming you. And if you think your airtight contracts, E&O insurance, or cyber policy will save you, you’re about to learn the hard way. One wrong move turns your insurance from a trustworthy safety net into a noose. Here’s the kicker: You’re probably already making these five mistakes. Hidden liabilities. Security gaps. Cyber insurance loopholes designed to deny your claims. One of these screw-ups just cost an MSP $925,000. Will you be next? Don’t sell another security contract—or sign another client—until you sit in this session. Because if you don’t know the rules, you’re already losing the game.

Founder & President
Resilient IT

Kevin is the Founder and President of Resilient IT. An IT veteran with nearly three decades of experience, Kevin founded Resilient IT (then Quad M Tech) in 2017, and rebranded the company as Resilient IT in 2022. Resilient IT was founded with the vision of serving the technology needs of small and medium businesses in the Northern Virginia and Washington DC metropolitan areas. In 2019, Kevin shifted Resilient IT’s focus to helping businesses that work with the Department of Defense meet the requirements of the evolving Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) and has become the self proclaimed CMMC Jedi. He recognized that faced with what’s required to become CMMC compliant, businesses that have never previously been scrutinized or assessed might be experiencing a bit of culture shock. In 2022, Kevin earned his CCP (CMMC Certified Professional) certification, in 2024 Kevin earned his CCA (CMMC Certified Assessor) and centered his CMMC focus on the goal of helping government contractors protect themselves from foreign threat actors seeking unlawful access to government data. Kevin participates in executive leadership programs in the Northern Virginia, DC Metro area (IoTSSA, NSITSP, NVTC, ASAE, ASCII, CompTia , ChannelPro). He is committed to helping drive the local area business community. When not working, he enjoys traveling, movies, concerts, music, and rooting for the New York Yankees, Miami Dolphins, and Alabama Crimson Tide.
