Richard Shinnick

Richard Shinnick, former NSA adviser and Air Force veteran, is the founder of Touchstone Security. He has 35-plus years of experience in the computer security industry providing advice on the risks associated with information technology with a specialty focus on cloud technology.
 
In 1998, Richard founded his first company, Shinnick Consulting. In 2000, he co-founded a second company, STIGroup Ltd., which he grew to more than 40 employees. He worked in the information security group at Goldman Sachs, where he played a key role in the development of corporate standards for the design and implementation of cybersecurity technologies. Prior to Goldman, he developed and headed the Information Security Consulting Division at Digital Network Associates, a premier Wall Street systems integration company.  
 
For a decade Richard developed and taught cybersecurity courses at Columbia University, New York University, the University of Barcelona, and Borough of Manhattan Community College. He is a proud volunteer at American Corporate Partners, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting veterans in their transition from the armed services to the civilian workforce. He became a first responder as a volunteer firefighter in his hometown after 9/11.  

Richard served in the United States Air Force Electronic Security Command as an Airborne Cryptologic Linguist in the Rivet Joint Program during the Cold War. He holds a B.S. in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and is a 11-plus year member of Entrepreneurs Organization.
