Carlo Cortina Jr.

Carlo Cortina Jr. is a Branch Chief with Office of Field Operations Communications Office.  In this role, Mr. Cortina leads the public affairs and social media division.  Among Mr. Cortina’s recent successes include his role as the Public Information Officer on U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) National Incident Command for Operation Allies Welcome, a historic success for CBP.  As part of OAW, CBP upheld the United States’ safety and security while providing humanitarian relief for more than 84,000 people fleeing Afghanistan.

 

Prior to his current role, Mr. Cortina served as a Chief CBP Officer at Vancouver, Canada Preclearance, the only Preclearance location with air, land and maritime operations.  He also provided transitional leadership as the Port Director in Halifax International Airport in 2021.

 

Mr. Cortina is a graduate of Florida International University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.  He also obtained his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from South University. He began his Federal Law Enforcement career in 2009 as a CBP Officer at Miami International Airport.

 

Mr. Cortina is married to Maria Caridad-Cortina and together they have three children.
