SVP, Business Development

As senior vice president of business development at Datto, Rob Rae's role is to oversee various aspects of Datto's programs including events, marketing development funds, vendor management, and partner advisory board, all with the goal of helping our partners grow.  

With over 25 years’ experience in B2B markets, Rob has extensive knowledge of IT hardware and software sales. All of Rob’s industry experience has been with 100% channel-focused organizations and with channel VARs, solution providers, and managed service providers where he has helped in achieving their sales goals. 

Prior to working with Datto, Rob built successful sales and channel teams at Level Platforms (acquired by AVG) and Compaq (acquired by HP).

Rob has been recognized with numerous awards within the channel including being named “CRN Channel Chief” every year since joining Datto. He has also been recognized on many top industry executive, influencer, and midmarket executive lists, and was rated a top channel influencer by Forrester’s Jay McBain. Rob sits on a number of industry advisory boards, including CompTIA’s board of directors. He is also an award-winning speaker, and before COVID-19 Rob traveled a quarter of a million miles a year for events.
