Mike Semel is the president and chief security officer of Semel Consulting, focused on regulatory compliance and business continuity planning. He is recognized as a thought leader in the IT, compliance, and business continuity industries. In 2021, of more than 20,000 certified professionals, Mike served on a small committee to update the international standards for business continuity planning. He consulted with CompTIA on the original Security Trustmark (2008), the Security Trustmark Plus (2014), and the Cybersecurity Trustmark (2022). Mike has owned or managed technology companies for over 30 years; served as chief information officer for a hospital and a K-12 school district; and managed operations at an online backup company. He is the best-selling author of How to Avoid HIPAA Headaches. Mike has worked in Formula 1 and served on the IndyCar Safety Team for 19 years. He still attends IndyCar races with Andretti Autosport.
